YOFACO works with and for young farmers, the owners, to make Uganda's agriculture sector a proud source of entrepreneurship, employment, and economic transformation. Our work is locally impactful and globally recognized. In just two years, YOFACO has created one hundred and thirty nine block farms to socialize, strengthen agricultural production, and grow agribusiness capacity. It has trained nearly 10,000 farmers in sound agricultural and business practices. We have advocated for strong, youth-focused Extension policies and services, and developed our own e-Extension platform and a national mobile farmer call center- on +256773809340 or +256704034414 to support just-in-time problem- solving. We have distributed tons of high quality seeds and genuine agricultural inputs to improve the quality of Ugandan crops. We have made strides toward increasing access to capital, positioning young Ugandan farmers to innovate and grow. And we have built a dynamic mobile and social community where young farmers are sharing their challenges, ideas, and resources, while being inspired by their peers. In 2016, YOFACO's leadership was recognized by Echoing Green, the prestigious global organisation that convenes the best and brightest young leaders to solve the world's biggest problems. Tumwebaze Khamutima, former YOFACO's Executive Director, was chosen as one of just 33 Echoing Green Fellows from a pool of more than 2,000 international applicants. This Fellowship, together with the support of YOFACO's bold funders, public and private partners, positions YOFACO to become a substantive leader when it comes to Uganda’s agricultural future. Also in 2016, YOFACO leadership was inducted into LEAD UG—a cutting-edge servant leadership program designed to spark explosive growth in the agricultural sector by solving Uganda's most deeply entrenched sector problems. Only 19 of Uganda’s most high-achieving agricultural leaders were selected for the program which was launched by Uganda’s President Museveni.
